HaveUs AeroTech has acquired two acres of land in Barrackpore, Kolkata, for a new Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, according to a company press release dated January 24, 2025. The initial phase of the project will include a 10,000-square-foot facility equipped for servicing aircraft wheels, brakes, avionics, and lifesaving equipment.
Located approximately 11.5 kilometers from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, the facility is strategically positioned to support airlines and MRO services from a logistical perspective. The company plans to invest over ₹50 crore in this project.
The remaining portion of the land will be utilized in later stages to expand operations for advanced component repairs, including radomes, auxiliary power units (APUs), and landing gears.
The project is expected to generate employment opportunities for 100 to 150 aerospace engineers, technicians, and other professionals.
Anshul Bhargava, Founder and Managing Director of HaveUs AeroTech, highlighted the potential of the eastern region for MRO services, noting its proximity to neighboring countries like Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Nepal. The facility aims to cater to aircraft from these regions, reducing dependence on facilities in China and Singapore.
To further its expansion plans, HaveUs AeroTech is seeking collaboration with local authorities and the West Bengal government to establish Kolkata as a key MRO hub. The company has also announced plans to develop a major MRO base in Mumbai as part of its ongoing expansion strategy.
The announcement aligns with India’s "Make in India" initiative, emphasizing domestic manufacturing and self-reliance in aviation services.
