Star Air, a subsidiary of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has announced plans to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft over the next three years. As part of this initiative, the airline will add two Embraer E175 aircraft to its fleet in the current fiscal year (FY25), followed by an additional four E175s in FY26. Currently, Star Air operates nine aircraft, including four Embraer E175s and five Embraer E145s.
The new E175 aircraft are expected to increase Star Air's capacity and operational efficiency, enabling it to serve more routes across India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The fleet expansion aligns with the Government of India's UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) initiative, which aims to improve connectivity in underserved regions.
CEO Simran S Tiwana commented on the expansion, describing it as a "pivotal step" in the company’s strategy to reach additional markets and enhance connectivity for passengers.
Since its founding in 2019, Star Air has transported over 1.3 million passengers across 21 destinations in India, with routes in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Punjab, Goa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The airline’s growing fleet will support its efforts to meet rising demand for regional air travel.
