Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL), a subsidiary of Bharat Forge Ltd., has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with AM General, USA, to supply artillery cannons manufactured in India. The agreement was formalized at the IDEX 2025 defence exhibition in Abu Dhabi.
Under the agreement, KSSL will provide various artillery systems, including mounted, towed, and ultra-light gun systems in 105mm and 155mm calibers. This collaboration aims to address the requirements of modern armies by equipping them with compact, lightweight, and mobile artillery systems suitable for all terrains and weather conditions. The partnership also focuses on co-developing next-generation artillery platforms featuring advanced recoil technology.
Bharat Forge Chairman and Managing Director Baba Kalyani stated that the agreement reflects the company's growing role in the artillery systems sector. John Chadbourne, Executive Vice President of AM General, described the LOI as an important milestone in the companies' long-term partnership.
This development follows a previous collaboration announced in October 2024, where KSSL partnered with AM General and Mandus Group to co-develop and co-produce advanced 105mm and 155mm howitzer artillery platforms. These platforms are designed to meet the evolving needs of modern battlefields, emphasizing enhanced firepower, precision strike capabilities, and tactical mobility.
The agreement aligns with India's broader efforts to enhance defense industrial cooperation with the United States and underscores the country's growing defense manufacturing capabilities. Shares of Bharat Forge ended 0.1% lower at ₹1,075.60 on the BSE.
